Obituary of Robert Ivan Goldner

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1929 - 2019

Robert Goldner wore many hats: son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin.  He added student, high school boxer and basketball player.  During his teen years he hired out as a farmhand and traded that hat to join the USAF.  Robert served his country being stationed in Okinawa as a B29 mechanic during the Korean War.  Returning to the USA, he added the hats of husband, son-in-law, and best of all, Dad.  After the military, he became a dairy farmer and on July 25, 1955, he became employed by Pacific Northwest Bell starting out as a telephone installer and ending his 31-year career as a Manager in Network Switching.  The retiree hat didn’t quite fit and he took the position of bus driver with the Freeman School District.

His leisure time was spent at his Lake Pend Oreille cabin where boating, skiing, and fishing were the order of the day.  Robert loved camping of all sorts...in a tent, on a motorcycle, in an RV, or with the ATV.  And he loved State B Basketball.

Robert is survived by his wife Rebecca, 3 daughters Sharon (Richard) Goodell, Debbie (Barry) Conklin, Heather (Chris) Case and his son Greg (Sue) Goldner all of whom he deeply loved.  Adding a new hat to his family blessings are 6 Grandchildren, Tim (Jacky) Herrington, Jennifer Brooks, Matthew Stevens, Melissa (Jim) Hainline, Alex Case, and Emily Goldner-Morgan.  Adding another hat and more blessings are 12 Great Grandchildren, Allie, Ariel, Ashley, Chloe, Courtney, Elijah, Gabriel, Hailey, Isaiah, Kyanna, Seth, and Zack.  Joining the survivors are many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Robert profoundly loved his family, his country and his Lord.

“And in the end it’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years”.

A. Lincoln
