Carl R. Harris, 79, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away on October 23, 2019 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Funeral service will be held at Bell Tower Funeral Home, Post Falls, on Saturday, November 9 at 1 pm with brother-in-law Pastor Jim Moore of Ulm Bible Church, Montana, officiating.
Carl was born on the Burkhart Oil Lease near Velma, Oklahoma to Ura Lee and Aline (Duckworth) Harris on October 3, 1940. He went to high school in Comanche, Oklahoma and graduated in 1958. He joined the Air Force in December 1958 and would serve most of his time in Guam. He finished out his service in Fort Worth, Texas after marrying Saundra Moore at Larson AFB Moses Lake WA. He worked many jobs which included school bus mechanic and RV mechanic through the 1970’s where he built conversion vans which would go on to win top honors at car shows. He also worked at National Food Corp for a number of years as a plant mechanic. He retired from U-Haul in 2003. He enjoyed noodling as a kid, golf in Guam and learning cooking secrets from the natives, being a Little League Manager in Moses Lake, hunting, fishing and camping most of all.
Carl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Saundra (Moore) Harris of Rathdrum, his son Carl (Katye) Harris of Athol, ID and daughter Kelli (John) Harris of Newman Lake, WA., granddaughter Chelsea Harris and grandson Jacob (Itzel) Harris of Spokane, WA. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and in-laws which miss him very much. He is preceded in death by his father Ura Lee, mother Aline, brother Cecil and Peggy (Souls) Harris.
