Obituary of Pinkie Mullins

Marion “Pinkie” Mullins, 90 Beloved sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Marion “ Pinkie “ Mullins, peacefully passed away at her home on January 31, 2020. Pinkie was born on May 1, 1929; the daughter of William and Louise (Turner) Peterson of Connecticut. Pinkie was born and raised in Connecticut. She was the definition of a proud New Englander. She and her 11 siblings enjoyed family picnics and ice skating on the frozen pond at their home. They regularly frequented the Connecticut shore and she lived each day to the fullest. At the age of 18, she met John, her beloved husband. They were united in Holy matrimony on January 26, 1952. Together they had two children, Jay and Jill. They raised them in beautiful Connecticut. They spent 64 wonderful years together until his passing in 2016. Pinkie was a woman of class and beauty. She took great pride in her appearance. Her clothes were always matching and her jewelry was always displayed beautifully on her. She loved her weekly hair appointments and planned her week around them. Pinkie was a special lady, to know her is to love her. She was amazingly kind, joyous and sincere. She showed her love in many ways, often by preparing food for those she loved. No matter where she went, she was always making friends. In 2010, John and Pinkie moved to Idaho to be closer to family. Because of her spunky personality, she was quite active in social events within her Golden Spike community. She also enjoyed belonging to the Red Hats. Although she was a busy lady, Pinkie found the time to join family, regularly traveling to Maui, cook her famous macaroni and cheese, rhubarb pie and work on her Pinkie-Winkie flowers. She passionately watched her favorite UConn men’s and women’s basketball team . Above everything else, spending time with family was the absolute most important thing in her life. Tyler and Ryan, her grandsons, were the light of her life, she was so proud of them. Pinkie is survived by her loving children, Jay Mullins and Jill Ettner; her brother, John (Diana ) Peterson; her sisters, Dorothy Burton, Evelyn (Oliver) Mahannah and Edith Phelps; brothers-in-law, Walter Michaels and George Golnik; her grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan Ettner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pinkie was preceded in death by her beloved husband John; four sisters: Marie Fortin, Ruth Michaels, Mae McCabe and Norma Golnik; as well as three brothers, Bobby Peterson, Arthur Peterson and Raymond Peterson. A Celebration of Pinkie’s life will be held Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Golden Spike Estates Club House: 8580 West Yosemite St., Rathdrum, Idaho, with Pastor Rodney Wright officiating services.
