Obituary of Ethel M Riemer
Please share a memory of Ethel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ethel M. Riemer, 87, of Post Falls, Idaho passed away July 18, 2020 with her son, James Riemer and daughter-in-law Theresa Riemer by her side. Ethel was born September 4, 1932 in Flagstaff, Arizona to Arthur and Ruth (Evans) Godwin.
Ethel grew up in Flagstaff and graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1950. She then attended nursing school at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona where she fulfilled her desire to become a registered nurse.
Ethel met her future husband Richard at a dance in Phoenix and they were later married September 4, 1954 in Phoenix, AZ. Ethel and Richard lived in Phoenix after they were married and then moved to Southern California. They moved to Northern Idaho in 2011 and enjoyed years living near her son's family.
Ethel was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker in addition to her career as a nurse. She enjoyed helping her children participate in activities including Cub Scouts, Brownies and Little League. She provided a comfortable home and always prepared an evening meal for her family no matter the budget constraints or her exhaustion level. Her family was her utmost concern. Ethel worked in hospitals in her early days of nursing and later worked in doctor's offices later in her career. She retired in 1991.
After retirement, Ethel and Richard spent many happy years in Hemet, California. She was a member of the Hemet Community Shuffleboard League and the Cruising A's Car Club. Ethel also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and card games. Nothing delighted her more than spending time with her family and grandchildren. One of her late in life's joys was her youngest granddaughter Emma.
Ethel is survived by her two loving children James (Theresa) Riemer of Post Falls, Idaho and Nancy (David) Carlock of Denver, Colorado, one sister Donna Renz of Albany, Oregon, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews.
