Obituary of Marcus J Broussard
Please share a memory of Marcus to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marcus J Broussard, 87, of Post Falls, Idaho, and formerly of Dickinson, TX, passed quietly at home on Friday, Sept 11, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Sue, of 53 years, his three children, Michelle Robinette, Steve Broussard and Suzette Moulin, in-laws Kevin Robinette, Alicia Broussard, and Pierre- Martin Moulin, and 19 grandchildren: Marie Elise, Monica, Helen, Cecile, Sabina, Jane, and Zoe (Robinette); Salvador, Rita, Marcus, Rosa, John, Stella, Celine, and Michael (Broussard); Marc- Antoine, Nicolas, Lucy and Bridgit (Moulin).
Marcus was born on January 4, 1933 in Lafayette, LA, to Clarence and Rita Piat Broussard, attended Cathedral High School and graduated in 1951. He studied electrical engineering (BA) at University of Southwestern Louisiana, and Louisiana State University (MA). During college he was a member of the Air Force ROTC, and served 4 years in the Air Force as an officer.
He moved to Houston, TX in 1960 and there he met Sue, who inspired him to end his bachelorhood on August 18, 1967. He worked for NASA at Johnson Space Center where he was actively engaged on the Mercury, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs, retiring after 30 years in 1990 to pursue full-time his lifelong passion for golf. He and Sue also enjoyed exploring the local wineries and tasting rooms with good friends.
Marc was an active parishioner of Queen Of Angels Church in Dickinson, TX and an early supporter of the Society Of St Pius X. In 2002, Marc and Sue moved to Post Falls, ID to be closer to grandchildren and to become involved in the parish community of Immaculate Conception Church, and St. Dominic’s School, both of Post Falls. In North Idaho, he was able to explore his love for the forests and mountains. He always relished hikes, walks, and anything outdoors.
For those who knew Marcus, it would be rightly said that he never met a stranger. His cheerful smile and ready conversation was always available to anyone any time. In addition to living close to Michelle’s family in the northwest, he enjoyed traveling to Switzerland to visit Suzette’s family, and Southern California to spend time with Steve’s family.
He will be sorely missed by those left behind, but the peacefulness of his death remains a great source of solace to all. The support of the priests of Immaculate Conception Church, and the Dominican Sisters assuring that he received all of the sacramental benefits and countless prayers on his behalf is a consolation that no expense was spared to ease the passing of his soul.
Rosary is at 5:30pm on Thursday Sept. 27. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30am on Friday, Sept 18, both at Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetary in Post Falls, ID.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls, ID or St. Dominic School in Post Falls, ID.
