The tremendous love Gloria held for her family and the wonderful memories she has left behind will never be forgotten. My Dad, her oldest sibling, always held a deep bond with her, his oldest sister. As we lived in Alaska, visits were rare and short. Even so, Gloria was always special to our family, through her letters and contacts. I know the pain of our loved ones leaving us never really goes away, but time does dim the hurt. With love to all the family, Twyla

I remember Granma Murray as a true, honest and exceptional person who will not only be missed by all those who cherish her, but this world will be a little bit emptier in her absence. She was always there for anyone who needed it and was always the one who would listen and do everything she could to aid you in whatever way? She was the greatest person on earth to a kid, always baking something special and made sure no one missed a meal on a Holiday, even if you were half a world away she found a way to make you feel special as if you were there with the rest of the family. I would like to share a story of a time in my life that things could not have been more difficult and stressful that my Granma reached out and touched me half a world away in a foreign land:
It was Christmas Eve 1990 my flight crew and I had been running night surveillance ops in the Persian Gulf off the cost of Iraq and were headed out of the country to a small island in the Indian Ocean called Diego Garcia for some much needed R&R. None of us really wanted to think about Christmas or how much we wanted to be back home with our families; it was like we were wishing it was any other day but this one. Right after we landed and had stowed our gear and were about to get into our transport to take us to the barracks, one of the on duty airman stopped us and told me I had a care package from home, back then when anyone got a care package it was a big deal for everyone and everyone shared, weather it was cookies, pictures or just general information on how our families were doing, so I was asked to open it up and see what I might be?
Well I did and to the astonished look on all our faces be were staring at the only "Live" Douglas Fir Christmas Tree from Northern Idaho that might have been the first time in the history to reach that part of the world! And as I opened up the rest of the package we found lights and treats for us all! Someone rounded up a coffee can and we placed the tree in water and strung the lights and ate cookies and 1lb. bag of M&M's and opened our Christmas gifts while we sang songs and rejoiced, Granma Murray had been a beacon of light on one of the darkest of nights and gave us joy and hope when there was nothing else around.
This is the kind of person she was and this is the kind of joy she brought to the world I will never forget that night and never ever will I forget the wonderful person she was and is wherever her spirit may rest it is sure to be blessed.
