Dad will receive Full Military Honors. The Flag ceremony will be held at the Funeral Home. Then the Honor Guard will give the 21 Gun Salute at The American Legion. I want to thank Joanne and Stephanie at Bell Tower for all their hard work and the American Legion, Teri Gasper, and the Honor Guard. What they do to honor the Veterans is extremely remarkable. I'm so pleased the Navy motto "Semper Fortis" which means "Always Courageous" was included on the folder.

Though I never met James Sams, I was touched by the caring and loving obituary. I am a Sams, the oldest of 7 children of Herbert Sams. My Dad's family moved here to Washington state from North Dakota, the children of Ross Sams. I have researched and it doesn't appear we were related, however from reading about James, he truly had all the traits of a Sams. My Dad too, was an adventurous. outdoorsman and a Christian man. He loved his children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and always found time to spend with them. I somehow feel that they ( James and my Dad) will have a good visit and share many wonderful memories and they enjoy their final reward in heaven. I wish that I had met James, though he will be missed I know you are comforted by the many memories as I am with my Dad.
Sincerely, Lois Sams Melville

James was a VERY NICE man to know as a fellow tenant at the Vintage at Spokane Apartments on 43 East Weile Ave. where he once lived where I've been a tenant for 14 years.
He and his wife---Ina were very pleasant to be around. They made you want to return as guests.
Jim was fun to watch with his airplane and truck simulations on his computer.
His love for God was very lasting.

From the time I was young, you were always my best friend. You taught me how to fish and appreciate the outdoors. We worked hard but you made sure we enjoyed ourselves. You were there for me through good times and bad. Laughter was always a part of my life whenever you were around. I was truly blessed to have you in my life. I have memories I will cherish forever. I'm going to miss you daddy, always.

My Papa, the man who will always be my hero. You showed me what real love is. I’m sorry for waiting so long to repair our relationship. But I’m thankful that God intervened to allow me the opportunity to do so. I promise to check on my mom for you.

Crystal was dad's little angel. Thank you for being there. This is when we all went to Manito park.

I went to school with Nancy & Rhonda & spent a lot of time with the family at their home in Post Falls. I got to know them all & loved the time I spent with them. They always treated me so good. I don't know where the time has gone, I wish I would had gotten to see them in recent years. I hope they realized how much I appreciated all the time they let me spend with them. They were the best!. All my love to Nancy, Rhonda & Cindy & the rest of the family.
