Obituary of James Edward Stephan

James Edwin Stephan, 82, of Spokane Valley, WA, born September 6, 1939, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Kootenai Health Hospital. A memorial service will be held this spring when family can travel over the passes. Jim was born in Sioux City, IA to John Edward Stephan and Beulah Jane. Jim enlisted in the US ARMY in 1958 where he served honorably until 1961. He later worked as a Tool Services Supervisor in the Military Airplanes Division at Boeing in Seattle where he worked with the B-2 Stealth Bombers until he retired. Afterwards, he moved to Orofino, ID where he served as a correctional officer for the Idaho correctional Institution before moving to Spokane Valley, WA. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, yardwork, his dog and cat, the Seahawks, going to the casino, chatting with family and friends and watching western movies. He was a cowboy at heart with heroes such as John Wayne and Roy Rogers. Jim always had a smile for everyone he met every time he saw them and was ready to give out hugs to whomever needed them. He is survived by his second wife, Laraine E. Stephan of Spokane Valley, WA, his son, Rick Stephan and daughter, Terry (Gary) Fuller, his sisters, Judy Whaley, and Joyce Frates, his twin brother Jack Stephan, and sister, Jeanne Wells. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann (Wakefield) Stephan, and his parents, John and Beulah Stephan.
