Obituary of Judith Patricia Morehead

Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Judith Patricia Morehead April 3rd, 1943 to May15th,2022 Judith (Judy) Patricia Morehead, 79, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away May 15, 2022 at The Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho after a long hard fight with Parkinson’s Disease. Judy was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Harold A. Krieger and Josephine H. Krieger in 1943. She earned a Masters Degree from Case Western in Cleveland Ohio, a Bachelor of Arts Degree, cum laude, with a Major in Anthropology from California State University, Long Beach, and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Eastern Washington University. She worked as a campus “Policewoman” at LA Harbor College which is where she met her future Husband Harold Morehead and was a Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles working undercover. She decided to go back to school to study Social work so she became a volunteer for the American Red Cross and worked as a CASA advocate for children. Later she also worked as a counselor for Lutheran Social Services in Spokane and a bereavement counselor for Hospice of North Idaho. She married Harold (Hal) Morehead, on January 27, 1977 in Monterey California and was with him until he passed on July 22, 2015 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. They moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1980 with Michael and Timothy Morehead in tow where they lived in a historic house on 7th street. Eventually they personally built a beautiful home on Fernan Lake, with the help from the off duty CDA firemen where Judy was working as dispatch. They lived there until the 2000's when they moved to a home in Fairway Hills overlooking the Coeur d'Alene golf course. In early 2015, they decided to move to the Garden Plaza Senior Living in Post Falls, ID. We lost a kind and gracious soul on May 15, 2022. Even though she suffered from a debilitating disease for years you never heard her complain or ask “why me?” She always wore a beautiful smile and had an incredible sense of humor. Even when she was no longer able to speak, she could express herself with reactive facial expressions that left no doubt about what she was thinking and would often leave you rolling in laughter which would give her a sense of pride that was also expressed facially. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Judy was preceded in death by Michael Morehead and her husband, Harold (Hal) Morehead. She's survived by her sister Peggy O’Rourke and brothers John and Dennis Krieger as well as adult children Steve Morehead, Lori Connolly, Mercedes Tidyman and Timothy Morehead not mention 16 grandkids and 20 great grandkids. There is to be a Celebration of Life on June 18th at Garden Plaza in Post Falls, Idaho starting at 3:00pm. Judy loved the music of Alejandro Vargas and he will be playing for her at that time. Due to the increase of Covid in our area, the proceedings will be outdoors and also on Zoom. For information, please reach out to: Tim Morehead 832-374-0789 srfspud@hotmail.com
