Ever since I can remember, Dan was the cool uncle I would tell all my friends about. I'm so lucky to have several memories with him that I can hold onto forever. There's a song I like called Cigarettes & Saints by The Wonder Years, that has a few lines where a friend is described as the coolest guy in heaven. It reminded me of Dan, who I'll always think of when I hear these lines: "I bet you're bumming cigarettes off saints And I'm sure you're still singing But I'll bet that you're still just a bit out of key With that crooked smile pushing words across your teeth... I'll bury your memories in the garden I'll watch them grow with the flowers in the spring I'll keep you with me"

One of the greatest days in my life was gaining a son through adoption, and sharing my name with you and your sisters. Every time we got together, we had no down time in conversation.
