Obituary of Virginia Lee Carter

Virginia Lee Carter was born in her grandmother's home in Spirit Lake Idaho on August 22, 1934. Ginny was the only child born to Andrew and Agnes Baker. After moves to Post Falls and The Dalles, Oregon the family settled in Colville, Washington in 1946. Ginny graduated from Colville High School in 1952 and was valedictorian of her class and was a majorette in the band. She was one of four women accepted into the pre-med program at the University of Washington. She left college during her sophomore year and returned to Colville and married Ronald Carter. They had two children, David and Ann. Ginny worked as a bank teller until the family moved to Post Falls in 1972, where she was employed by Louisiana-Pacific as a shipping clerk. During her time in Colville Ginny made many life-long friends. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending weekends with family at their lake cabin. Ginny was very dedicated to her family and was an excellent employee. She had a gift for working with numbers and finance. She was also an excellent cook, preparing delicious meals from scratch. She had a genuinely sweet and kind disposition. In her later years she enjoyed regular trips to the casino where she easily made friends with whoever was seated around her. Ginny passed peacefully at home on December 18, 2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her children, David (Patti) Carter and Ann Kendrot; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Tinkerbelle. At her request, a memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
