Obituary of Phyllis Judith Rigby

Phyllis (Judy) Judith Rigby, 83, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023. Services will be held on February 11, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Valley Stake Center located at 21022 E. Wellesley Avenue, Otis Orchards, WA 99027. Viewing will be held at 9:00 AM with the Memorial Service beginning at 10:00 AM followed by the burial at the Saltese Cemetery at E. 32nd Avenue, Spokane Valley, WA 99016. Family luncheon to follow at the Stake Center. Judy was born January 18, 1940 to Virgil and Nedra Quinton in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. In 1946 the family moved to Spokane Valley, Washington where she resided most of her life. Judy was a high school cheerleader and a Spokane Lilac Festival princess. Judy was an avid musician who played the accordion and played and taught piano. Judy was actively involved in the community and spent much of her time in service to others. Judy hosted an annual neighborhood picnic for many years, was Washington State PTA President, served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was an active member of SCOPE. Judy is survived by her siblings Tracey Quinton, Bryce Quinton, and Linda Hawkins, her children; Vickie Knudtsen, Michael (Vickie) Rigby, Tracy Carpenter, Brett Rigby, Kristi (Timothy) Hamberg, Brian (Suzanne) Rigby, Lance (Erin) Rigby, Matt (Brenda) Rigby, Todd (Tonya) Rigby, Robb (Christina) Rigby, Daniel (Michele) Rigby. She had 36 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Deloy and Dorrell Quinton, daughter Fava Lee Rigby, grandsons Eddie Knudtson and Jeffrey Carpenter, and great-granddaughter Hailey Pugsley.
