Forest and Catherine were the most gracious and generous hosts we could ask for on both of our visits to the Anchorage area. And Forest’s deep knowledge and love for the area made him a supreme tour guide as they took us around.
During our Seattle District days with the Corps, Forest and I were adjacent cubicle neighbors, and we got to be good work acquaintances. His work area was a sign of a genius at work. Since I was in a wheelchair, I couldn’t even get into it. No problem! Ask him for a document among the many piles, and in a minute he’d pull it out and hand it to me.
Forest’s profound love for his Catholic faith were evident, and over time I asked him many questions. One time I told him how he was a major influence on my coming into the church. He said: That wasn’t me; that was Jesus and Mary. I just answered questions.
Catherine, may the peace and strength that come from our Lord, in whose arms Forest now rests, aid you through the painful loss of this wonderful man.

Catherine, Forest worked on the other side of my cubicle, when I was in Geology and Instrumentation. Whenever I was having a stressful time, I would hear Forest's beautifully modulated talk on the other side...helped, immensely. He was a sweet gentleman and so very articulate! I hope that warm memories and light help to heal some of the loss, for you and yours...

I will miss sharing Hydroplane memories with Forest . I last saw Forest at our Hydroplane Movie double feature on Feb 2 . He was such a great person to talk to and know. RIP my friend !!

I am so very sorry for the pain you're experiencing in your loss of the physical presence of Forest. I worked with Forest for many years in Seattle District. He and I served on the Historical Committee and shared a common love of history. He also knew my father, who worked in the Division office in Portland. I think of him every time I pass the Veterans Museum in Centralia. He touched many lives. I am sorry I won't be able to attend his Rosary or funeral.
