I was just looking up Skip and am so sorry to hear of his passing. Skip was a great help to me when I was a delinquent teenager, some 40 years ago. Really, I don't know if I would have made it without him. I just wanted to let him know that I (finally) grew up to be a responsible person and to say thanks. I know that he will be missed.

My dearest friend skip...I find it so odd that there is a world without you. You touched the heart of so soooo many. You believed in each and everyone of us, guiding us all into a better light and grounding us all. Never in my life have I ever come across such a beautiful, strong and golden heart, one who understood so many precious hearts. You guided us though all the struggles of growing into adulthood. You showed us all a brighter and sweeter future, one we could be okay in, one we could handle, blessed with an angels touch. My heart is so very heavy with the thought of you no longer here on earth. You seemed so much larger than life, I never thought there would come a time when I couldn't call or write, when with struggles i couldnt turn to you, when I would have to say good-bye and not "later". In life there is those rare angelic souls who influence and guide us, you were that amazing soul. We often don't show our gratitude and love. But my dear sweat friend skip, I thank you for guiding me,showing me the way and holding me up when I fell and needed a shoulder, when I was lost or needed a bit of skip to set me down the right path., for believing in me (even when I didn't know who I was). I pray each and everyday that you are where you need to be and I know there will always be an angel watching over me and reading all the letters I send to heaven. Skip, you are forever in my heart and so many others. I will never forget you and you will always be in my heart. Sending big hugs to heaven.. later my friend, there is no goodbyes cuz I know someday we will meet again. Love u always skip. Thank you my friend.....

Skip will always hold a special place in my heart. He was always there when I needed a hug or a smile. As Skip would say, "You are beautiful." I will truly miss him!

Skip was a friend, confidant, someone to laugh with, cry with. He was with me for almost 45 years and will be greatly missed. Gone but not forgotten. All I have to do is close my eyes to feel his love around me. Go forth, Peaceful Warrior, for your lessons in life will not be forgotten.

We hold in our hearts the memories in our life. Skip will continue to be in mine forever. Unconditional is the only word that I can think of to describe the love, caring and support that he offered to all. He was truly one of God's Angels. You will be forever missed. I bid you peace.

I was a teen staff member at Teen Institute in Montana one year and became very fond of Skip. I wrote to him for many years afterward, and was always amazed that he responded to every one of my letters--he was such a devoted pen pal! Skip was just one of those special people who touched lives wherever he went. What a blessing it is to have known him--if I close my eyes I can feel his hugs even now. Rest in peace!

Sorry to hear of Skip's passing. Our paths crossed many times in our careers. Being from Salem I remember watching him play Basketball at Willamette. Later on we met when he was a member of an Air Force inspection Team at Whiteman AFB,MO. Then at Malmstrom he was my Squadron Commander in the 12SMS. He did a lot in improving the morale of the unit. I remember his great sense of humor and was looking forward to seeing him at Great Falls,MT for the 50th Anniversary of the Cuban crisis, but......

Skip was my mentor when I was at the Montana Teen Institute. I was one of the students who went through the camp and then later became part of the staff in Helena. That was back in the 1980s but I'll never forget the loving, caring attitude Skip had toward all of us! He also spoke at my graduation ceremony from high school. What an absolute blessing he was in my life!

Skip will be missed when I am in Bayview. He was one of the reasons Bayview is such a great little community. I can't count how many boat rides I have been on with him through the years, but every one of them was special. Thanks for touching my life, Skip!

I had the privilege of serving with Skip in the 12th Strategic Missile Squadron at Malmstrom AFB, MT (Great Falls) in the late 1970's. I was a young missile crew member when Skip came in as our new Squadron Commander. He took command of a squadron that was suffering from low moral and a lack of effective leadership. Skip immediately implemented team building strategies that restored morale, improved effectiveness, and made serving there fun. I admired his abilities and learned skills that served me well through my Air Force career. I feel confident Skip is still building teams and improving conditions.

Skip had a tremendous impact on me, as well as countless other young people across Montana. I first met him as a camper in the TIP program, and then later had the privilege of working with him as a fellow counselor. Skip's ability to connect with people was simply incredible…he saw the best, most special part of every person and helped them see that in their own self. I’m grateful for Skip’s passion and generosity, and am keeping his family in my thoughts.

Skip was so proud of his family. He was always talking about his girls, and that was 25 years ago.
Thank you for sharing your Dad with so many teenagers in Montana. Skip and I used to talk on the phone about who we had seen and how they were doing. He had a way of getting through to some kids that no one else could do, and sometimes it was by just being there.
Don't be surprised if I send a Christmas card this year. It has been a tradition for so many years.
Skip I know you are in heaven looking down on us. I have several friends up there with you I know you would get along great with. Until then, keep the campfire burning and save a story for me. I am looking forward to that hug too. You will be missed.

Skip has been a light in my life for the past 25 years. He has touched so many youths' lives in Montana. When I was 16 I went to summer camp and met Skip for the first time. He was full of hugs and stories. We all looked up to him. He helped me turn my life around from a youth in trouble to a very happy nurse. I spent many summers with Skip at camp. I enjoyed our walks at the lake and sitting my the campfire. He still gave me a big hug at the end of camp. I may have been the camp nurse but I was sad to leave, just like the campers.
