Rest in peace my friend. I've known Vernon since high school. Our paths crossed many times over the years. Vern always took the time to stay in contact after the Army, on his move from Florida to Hawaii, while in Alaska and again in Seattle. After retirement I tried to contact him several times, but to no avail. I always enjoyed visiting with him and listen to all his many adventures. Vern was sincere in his values and lived his life accordingly. Rest in peace my friend, you deserve all that was important to you.

Several years ago a man came into the gift store my wife and I owned. He introduced himself as Vernon Mahler and asked us if we would be interested in including his photography in our store. Our store philosophy was that our store was not just a business, but a ministry and after talking with Vernon for a short time I realized he was for all intents and purposes; a minister of God's messagethe Gospel. Vernon, my wife and I quickly became close friends. He and I would spend hours at the store with a cup of coffee, in deep and I mean deep, conversations; we were hug-in buddies. I could never get him to meet me for early breakfasthe liked to sleep in. Now he can sleep in all he wants or not at all. I miss him so very much; but I know I'll see him again. Love you man. Your friends, Jerry & Rebecca.
