Chas was truly one of a kind who will be greatly missed by all who met him. He loved doing things that make groups of people happy all at once. He loved doing what he did and everyone loved him for doing it. He had an easy relaxed way of communicating with everyone. All of us who knew him feel happy and lucky to have known him. He leaves very, very good memories.

Charlie was "his own person" and "one of a kind" giving of his time to anyone who needed it. He gave a lot of "off the clock" hours to the teens at Lake County Youth Home which made a big difference in a lot of their futures. He probably put more miles on his vehicles in a year than we do in three years. Chas, we will miss you dearly but now we have another angel looking after us in heaven along with Daddy, Mother and Libby. May your soul and all the souls of the dearly departed rest in peace. Peace and Love, Rosemarie - "The Matriarch" sister

Chas, my former brother-in-law, has been part of my family for over 44 years. As a child he used to pay me $.10 for 15 or 30 minutes for a head massage. (I promise I did not make him lose his hair!) As a young adult I worked for him at the Folkshop and he had a big influence on me. Chas was more like a brother than a brother-in-law. I will miss him very much. My heart is heavy for Margie losing her husband way too soon, for my nephews loosing their dad, for my great-nephews who lost a grandfather who they did not have in their lives enough years. Chas had a powerful impact on all those who knew him, and he was a good man, giving much of his life to serve others.

Every once in a while you meet someone that you "get". You connect with them immediately and you know that they have connected with you as we'll. that is the way it was with chas and me. I expected us to become better and better friends for the rest of our lives. I am so saddened at this sudden loss. I will miss him for the rest of my life. The only condolence is he didn't suffer. He went to sleep next to the woman he loved...and that's all he knew of the end. Blessings and sympathy to Margie and the entire extended family.

It has taken since Wednesday for my hands to stop shaking sufficiently to be able to type this. As I reviewed in my mind the past five years during which I have been privileged to know Chas, one point after another after another kept coming up as to how deeply this sweet, generous-spirited, kind and caring man has touched my life. I am a better guy in every way from our wide-ranging conversations about WHAT REALLY MATTERS as well as my simply standing aside and watching him give of himself in every way so that all around him could feel the daily joy in life. Chas was all about the other person: what could he do to bring a smile, or to teach a point, or to play a song to make the OTHER person happy. If that other person was happy, then he was happy. A truly selfless man who devoted his life to service to others. I will deeply miss his wisdom, his smile, his gentleness. Why do the most cruel things have to happen to the best people? My deepest sympathy to Margie and all of the extended family. And my thanks to her that I was able to share time with Chas and learn how better to conduct my own life going forward from here.

We will miss Chas so much - his "tunes by the pool" that was so enjoyable and even the Rapid Transit, and all the other entertainers he has engaged for SM over the years. He was a very talented, loving and kind guy who gave so much of himself to the success of Sun Meadow and all of us who love our resort. He will leave a great hole in our heats, but a wonderful memory always.

Shocked of course and even more so sad for Margie, his kids, his family and all of us he knew him. My fondest memories are actually of our rides together to attend meetings in Helena. Forget the radio, Chas would entertain but not with jokes and stories but rather of his on-going and deep searching for the meaning of life. Not sure he ever settled on one as he had so many but I sure came away more aware of what was important for me. My friendship was one of the people important to me and I missed our rides and talks. He never did talk me into a hot tub evening but he convinced me of far more important things in life. I have missed him and even more miss the chance to ever now catch up. Rest in peace young man and my thoughts go out to you Margie. I will not be able to attend the services but I will be there as Chas will always be with me.

I was just in Ronan two weeks ago and was asking how Chas was doing and learned he was in Idaho. We met Chas 30 years ago as Jesuit Volunteers for the Folkshop. Enjoyed his sense of humor and his inherent love of people. We will keep his family in our prayers! Au revoir mon ami.
