One summer Barbara, asked me and my kids to go with her family on a picnic. I thought sure, it would be nice. We got stuff together and loaded it into the car. Barbara, being experienced in this event knew what to bring with. we drove out to some remote lake and parked. Her kids were helping unload all the gear. Barbara, loaded everyone with handfuls of stuff. Im thinking, this is a lot of stuff for a picnic, unknown to me a picnic to Barbara was a day event not a meal.
We hiked way over yonder and finally arrived at our spot. There was a picnic table, that I was happy to see, because her kids all brought chairs, we didnt. now off go the kids and Tom to explore and find a fishing spot. Barbara, is beaming over this wonderful adventure, me I dont know what to do. She brought a craft to work on and a book to read, me nothing. looking around I dont want to sit at the table because there are spiders lurking around and the wasps, bees and flies are comming around to check me out. I wanted to go home and we had only been there ten minutes. hahaha Barbara, looked at me and started laughing, said I looked like one of the ladies in the fairy tales book I loved. Soon we were both having a laugh. But, it was still one of the longest days I have ever had. Now when someone says picnic, im careful to define the word, picnic. I love you Barbara.

My sisters and I like to spend time texting about our childhood. Recently,Barbara and I were talking about a school event. We lived in van nuys, california, our elementary school was putting on a square dance for the parents. All the grades and each classroom was preforming a dance. Recess and p.e. time was spent practicing for the big day.
when we told our mother about the event she got busy sewing us square dance dresses. I dont know if she got her ruffler attachment for her sewing machine before or after this project, but we had the most beautiful square dance dresses ever made.
The day arrived, Barbara and Lories dresses were dark blue, with ruffles and gold rick rack. Mihe was turquoise and black. Barbara, said that dress made her feel so beautiful, she even had matching socks. Barbara, was in second or third grade. We laughed and talked about our beautiful dresses. Thank you, mom. Lynda

On July 23rd at 10:26pm Barbara left to be with Jesus forever. Many have asked why she didn’t fight harder to live. She did that every day of her life. Her body was shutting down; one year, nine months ago she had a massive heart valve replacement surgery. Her body was frozen, she was pronounced dead and her heart was removed from her body. Human hands touched her heart and then put it back inside her. She was never happy about this invasion of her personal space. Her peace was taken away from her. When infection invaded her body, her blood, her organs, Jesus; spared her the fight for recovery and took her home to rest. Barbara was born in Glendale, California to Bruce and Bernice Cox. Barbara is the third of six children born to Bruce and Bernice. Growing up the family moved many times, she graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Granada Hills, California. A few years later she graduated from Marinello Beauty College in the field of cosmetology as a licensed beautician. Barbara was a wonderful hair dresser and worked for many years perfecting her talent. Barbara met her future husband Tom Fellows when he came to her shop for a haircut. They had three sons; James, Jereb, Garrett and a daughter, Rachel. Together Tom and Barbara built their own successful business, starting out in the northern California and settling in Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho area. Dirt works Excavation was a good business supporting his family until he retired. Tom died on March 29, 2012. Barbara was a very knowledgeable lady with many talents, hobbies and interests. She loved to read her Bible, study her concordance, and got to bible study. Barbara regularly attended church all her life. Barbara loved history and her heritage. With Scandinavian roots on both hers and Tom’s sides, she read lots about the Vikings, Swedes and Norwegians. Her studies opened her mind to learn about working with herbs and plants to heal the body. Equipped with her knowledge, Barbara ventured out into gardening. She loved this and spent many relaxing hours cultivating her plants. This lead her to start a natural lotions and oils business that she worked on thru the years. That business was called the “Pink Chick. Barbara’s grandmother made wine in her lifetime, Barbara also tried her hand in this craft. Some turned out, other batches were learning experiences. Barbara learned the art of sewing from her mother, grandmothers and school. She could make any garment necessary, but her love was in relaxing and making quilts. Her craftsmanship in creating these works of beauty brought her to being ready to enter them in the fair. 45 years as a seamstress, what a gift. Besides the normal home arts that Barbara loved to do, she learned how to weave baskets out of grass and reeds. She didn’t make enough of these to give away but she could have. A few of her other many talents; pottery, jewelry making, cooking for large crowds and carpentry. One year she decided to make tables, end tables, coffee tables and patio tables. She had many ideas and designs; one table she was extremely pleased with because it came out squared all around. She also tried making bird houses, in which one she even made her own shingles for the roof. Many Saturday mornings you would find Barbara making breakfast for the men’s prayer breakfast at the church. The last years of Barbara’s life she cooked for the Rathdrum Senior Center, Serving meals to the wonderful seniors in the community. Barbara has preceded in death by her father Bruce Cox and her husband Tom Fellows. She is survived by her daughter Rachel and her husband Miles, her sons Garrett, James and his wife Justine and their children Israel, Eden, Zion, and Jaden, Jereb and his wife Kara and their children Max and Preston, Jackie and grandson Justin. Her mother Bernice and husband Gerald Ritter residing in Riverside California. Two brothers Terry and wife Delynn Cox, Foursquare church ministers Ventura California, Their two daughters Tessa and Charissa her husband Greg and their three children. John Cox adjunt professor and Wife Mindy resides in Aliso Viejo California with their two children Jesse and Calli. Three sisters Lynda Hoggatt resides in Marysville Washington with her four children Andrew, Sheena, Matthew wife Chris their children Brianna and Samantha and three grandchildren; Phillip and wife Brianne and daughter Zoey. Lorie and her husband Mike Gruhlke reside in Post Falls, Idaho with daughter Cassandra and grandson Gabe. Leslee and her husband Hector Romero reside in East vale California with daughter Rachel and sons Michael and Daniel.

My heart is shattered into a thousand pieces; my sister is gone! It will take a long time to heal, my flesh and blood was taken. Every Day I have to reach out to my sisters because my grief is so big. I forget they have a gaping hole in their hearts too.
Barbara and I spent many minutes laughing at our childhood. How many Sunday rides did we take into the desert with our grandparents looking for the perfect rock, eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, maybe tuna, sometimes spam, drinking punch (water).
We loved remembering going to grandpa and grandma's house. Attaching skates to our shoes with a skate key and zooming so fast down the hill. When we crashed our auntie would fix up our "owies" and comb our hair. It was the only time in our whole life we got to wear pigtails.
My dad would always say, "Where's Barbara?" when we would be ready to go somewhere. She was always gathering that last bouquet of flowers or giving the neighbor's cat her love. Then she would come running up, climb in the car, mom would clean her up again. We had pretty dresses as we grew up and we were kept clean and pretty.
I go back to my dad calling "where's Barbara?", you won't find her now without searching. She is hiding behind her the shelves of her books, waiting for you to read and discover all that she found, in Avalon or Plains of Passage, Maybe in the Life of Alexander the Great.
As you look out over the mist covering her garden, she is there. You will have to search for her. She could be behind a tree waiting for you to come out and play with her; you might find her just sitting for a moment enjoying the sun. Maybe she's over by the Gnome, tending her Scandinavian plants, or maybe just over here where her healing herbs are. Look for the marker, you will find it. The vines are in plain sight, the flowers are scattered. Barbara's garden reminds me of grandma momsies, its not the garden a palace window overlooks. It's the garden of a woman struggling with rocks, weeds and physical limitations. Both kinds are beautiful if you keep the designer in mind.
As kids we played "Fairies," we ran around the year and let our imagination soar. A happiest time for us was living in Orange County when our cousins, Shelly, Kevin and Luane played with us. Kevin thought she was so nice he bought her a pair of earrings before they moved away. Her continued fascination drew her to read about fairies, Gnomes, and mythical creatures all her life.
Barbara believed in natural healing. She researched and studied it in many forms. She learned about the Druids, the Native Americans culture, Civilizations long gone, pioneers like her relatives, Bible healing. She loved plants and what they were used for.
Barbara didn't sit doing nothing she learned to sew as a young girl. Many fabric scraps from our mothers became Barbie doll creations. This grew to sewing clothes for herself and others. For over 45 years Barbara was a seamstress. When her children no longer needed homemade clothes, she stated directing her talent into making quilts.. As with all things her finished quilts were works of art! They are filled with love and prayers. Each person that she chooses to make a quilt for received her undivided attention on. Each stitch is prayed over; every piece joined together is her connecting the pieces of that person's life. She created the quilt for you! I asked her why she didn't enter a quilt in the fair. Her answer was always something regarding a construction error. I think it wasn't about winning the Blue Ribbon; but rather the happiness it gave her to make the gift.
As you continue to search for Barbara look in the back of the Church, she is quietly listening for someone who needs her help, the family who needs jackets or pants; the family who needs some groceries. The woman who is bed ridden and her family need a meal. Barbara will help you, always doing her best to be all that the Bible taught her to be.
I will never tell you I had enough time with Barb; I want that last conversation, her final thoughts, one more day, one more hour, one more hug.
Rest in the Peace you deserve- I love you, Lynda

I dont even know where to start. I'm embarrassed that I haven't spoke out to you on this beautiful memorial page. I have been through such an emotional whirl wind in the last few weeks. I am so sorry Mom for everything that had transpired to this point. You were ready to go be with Jesus, I know that. But we all miss you so very much. Words can't express our love for you. Your entire life was dedicated to service, for the Lord and unto others. You touched so many lives Mom, and I'm so proud to be your son. I know that with all the sin in the world today, Jesus probably needed you up there with him. I'm still trying to grieve and comprehend the enormous amount of despair that I have because we were so close. I hope that in your final moments when you opened your eyes for a brief few seconds that you did see me and hear me. I wanted you to know that you were going to be a Grandma to my baby. Thats all I wanted to tell you. Michelle and I are so happy but during this time its hard for me to show it because I want my baby to know you, be with you, to love you. You left this place with so much Wisdom and knowledge. It hurts me to the core that I was not there for you while you were struggling. I want that burden to be upon me because now both my parents had passed in similar fashion and I couldn't make it there fast enough to even say good-bye or see either of you coherent one last time. I'm sorry that you had such a struggle in the last few years. I know you suffered from a broken heart when Dad passed, and I know that you hated that artificial heart valve inside your body. I know that Dad must have talked Jesus into pulling your card somehow because this was just too sudden for us Mom. Now you and Dad are together again, truly together forever, and you have no more struggle physically or financially. I have so many questions and unanswered thoughts Mom that i just ask you to show me the answers and direct my path. I love you forever and until I see you again in the spirit I will honor your remembrance through my actions.

We got to know Barbara when our son Miles met and married her daughter, Rachel. We so enjoyed getting to know her - what a wonderful and talented woman. I was amazed at all the things she could do - from cooking to sewing, crafts and decorating, and much more.... We are comforted to know that she is now reunited with Tom and with our Lord in heaven and we look forward to seeing them both again one day.
