I fell in love with Uncle Charlie when I was 6 years old. And even though we lived on opposite sides of the country and never seemed to be together in later years, that love was still there. Every time I saw someone chopping down a tree or hiking up a path into the woods I thought of him. When our mom Dorothy brought Margie and I out the big wild west on a train to visit, Charlie took us not to the normal tourist attractions ... we went panning for gold in Flathead Lake, sliding down glaciers in Canada, climbing up a fire tower in the middle of the forest and cheering the cowboys at the rodeo. I thought I'd found heaven. The memory of this trip and the adventurous spirit of Charlie stayed with me always. He was so special. My heart goes out to you Suz and Buzz and Sandy. I know you'll miss him so, but oh my what a wonderful life he had. How he touched so many people's hearts and souls. Love, Sue

When I think of Charlie and Suzzi, I picture a campfire in Banff Forrest and a couple of sore butts taking a break from the ride in. There is a bible verse about mansions in heaven, and I am sure that Charlie's mansion has a view of snow capped peaks, a stream, a couple of elk and moose.... "MY PAPA" My Dad will always be with me. He is with me in heart, He is with me in mind, He is with me in memory's treasure... I will still have his smile, and his dreams for my life, and, always, his love beyond measure. There will be a forever place in my heart for my Papa, even though I've had to say good-bye. A place that will hold the sadness of parting, but also the special love, the fond and happy memories, and the close and caring relationship we shared. I could never explain how amazing he was. A life that big, somebody that incredible, doesn't leave. We will talk about him thru stories we've experienced with him, for the rest of our lives. It's okay to feel pain. In fact, when you've been as lucky as I was in the Dad department, it would be an outrage not to cry. You can't have an up without a down, a right without a left, a back without a front, or a happy without a sad. This is the price you pay for having such a "one in a lifetime", "great" Dad. You get the wonder, the joy, the tender moments, and you get the tears and aching heart at the end, too. I will miss you forever and always Papa. You were my rock and my hero. My condolences to Charlie's family, especially to Sandy, Suzie and Buzz. Charlie was a wonderful man. I first met him in the early 60s in my teen years logging with my father. I was always impressed that Charlie would jump in and help the loggers working on his jobs. He wanted to help others to succeed. He always had a smile . . . and a dog. Later, he was my brother-in-law and he will be missed.
