Ken & Leona Schank posted a condolence

Sixty two years ago Kenny took me to visit his Aunt Toots. She and Floyd lived on the Calavo farms. We had only been married about 6 months and I was suffering from acute morning sickness which was very embarrassing Toots and Floyd really did live "the house by the side of the road" literally. During the weekend there was a constant stream of friends and relatives and each and every one of us were treated like royalty - their kindness and graciousness was so welcomed. The memory of that weekend helped us through many of the lonely times during Kenny's second tour of service. We learned from them that no matter how far from home we were going to be, family was going to be there. In the final analysis they made "home" for so many. This was "Toots" gift to all of us.

Claire, my most sincere sympathy for the passing of aunt Toots. She had such a full life. I will always remember her infectious laughter and great hugs. Sherry, daughter of Charles E. Schank
