I just learned that Ivan passed, and I am heartbroken. I will always remember him as my first boyfriend and as the loyal and funny friend he became and I will never forget the times we had together. He had so many friends; I know he meant a lot to so many people. Groth family, I am so very sorry for your loss. He will never be forgotten.

Someone asked me the other day who my oldest friend was. I told him I grew up on a street in Hayden Lake called Kirkpatrick and I had more than just one. From my earliest memories it was always Ivan, Nick, Peter, L.J and I playing in the street. We would spend hours riding our bikes, skateboarding, building forts in the surrounding fields, playing Army, baseball, football and arguing over whose turn it was next. I hadn’t thought about those days for many years until recently watching my son play with the other neighborhood kids. I found myself slipping back in time to those fun summer days on Kirkpatrick St. and all the great times we had. I wouldn’t have traded my Childhood Street and friends for any others. Of course we all grew up and went our separate ways but I’ll always have the memories of Ivan and the adventures we shared as kids. Thanks Ivan for being a great friend.

I worked with Ivan for many years. My Mom was a resident at our work, she and Ivan had a wonderful friendship that she treasured. She and Ivan would play Scrabble every day. She couldn't wait to get breakfast over with so she could go and find Ivan. I saw how much she admired him. His genuine caring attitude towards the residents was evident in everything he did. Many lives were touched by him and we all were better for have known such a kind, sincere man. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

My heart is broken, Ivan was always a wonderful, sweet, kind, caring, intelligent, funny, and tenderhearted man. It has been a long time since I saw Ivan or spoke to him after we parted ways but I often thought of him and hoped he was doing well. My prayers are with you in your time of grief and sorrow.

Ivan was our dear neighbor for 9 yrs. What touches me the most is his beautiful smile and caring nature. We remember many chats with Ivan and shared some laughs. I personally will never forget the cymbals (he played in a band) - He wrote us a little writing titled "Cymbalism". A wonderful expression of Ivan. Our prayers go out to Gerry and Jeri and all of Ivan's family and friend. Rest in beautiful Peace Ivan Groth. The Fenter Family

I was so sad to see Ivan's obituary in the paper this morning. I was the dietary manager at Life Care Center and first hired Ivan as a dietary aide in the kitchen. He worked there for several years, then moved into the activities department. He really found his niche there, and the residents loved him. He would still help out in the kitchen from time to time when they needed someone, and it was always fun to have him back for a few days. He worked alongside us "old women" and humored us. Looking back, it must not have been much fun for him! My condolences to Ivan's family. We will miss his smile and infectious laugh. I know he is smiling down on all of us.

I didn't know Ivan as well as some, but I worked with him at Life Care for a few years. He was always so positive and would ask me every single day how I was doing, ask me about school, and always had a fun and positive story to share to brighten my day. I know all of the residents thought the world of him and nothing but good things to say about him always. He will be greatly missed. I'm so sorry for the families loss and they will be in my prayers. We'll miss you Ivan!

I wish there was a way to properly convey my condolences to Ivan's family. You raised a wonderful caring son and brother that this world has ever seen. Ivan will remain close to my heart for the rest of my days. As I struggle to deal with this grief, I automatically reach for my phone only to realize that the one person I shared everything with is the reason ..... Ivan was a true friend and our friendship only grew closer through the years. I fell in love with Ivan's heart. The day that he cared enough to be with a resident and sat by his dying side in the hospital...realizing that it was up to us to be this man's family. And he faithfully stood his post until this man closed his eyes for the final time. That was my Ivey. That was my heart. Know that you will all be together again but in a better place. A place with no pain and no tears but only happiness and laughter.
