I remember the first time I met you in 1976. Tom and I were newly married and you were busy with your farming business down in the orchard. I loved your kind and loving personality and the twinkle in your eyes.
Thank you for all the love you gave to our family. You were there when Joni was choking on a chocolate chip cookie in Salt Lake City. You helped us with that emergency.
You helped us build our first home in Spokane. You built the second bedroom on to the shop so that our family would have more space. We could breathe again.
You bought Tom and me tickets to see Les Miserable in 1996 when we were having such a tough year. That gave me hope for the following months when things were so difficult. That was the best Christmas present ever.
Thank you for coming to our home and paying attention to our family. The kids always loved having you around.
We loved the latest picnic at your home a few years back.
You are already missed Jim.
Until we meet again on the other side.

What a wonderful man, Jim Miller - always welcoming to everyone - seems he never met a stranger. A credit to his parents, kind, friendly, trustworthy, self-sacrificial, a wonderful human being. He was a part of our family with our children calling him Uncle Jim and looking up to him as a role-model and mentor.
With his passing I truly feel a deep lose, and am thankful that I will meet him again at the feet of our Heavenly Father, where we will celebrate together!
God Bless you Miller family, thank you for sharing your son, brother and uncle with our family!

I was shocked to hear of Jim's untimely death and want all of his family to know how much he meant to us as neighbors during the years he lived in Spokane Valley. When I was YW President he took our girls water skiing and was such a gentleman. His pleasant patient personality, and constant smile made for a wonderful summer outing.
I also can still see him mowing the expansive yard on his riding lawnmower on the property next to ours waving and smiling at us everytime we drove by.
Deepest sympathy at this time of great loss.
Sincerely, Carole Hankal-Westfall

We want to second everything that Liz and Tyra said in their message. Jim was the best neighbor ever. He was always smiling and ever ready to help. He made special trips down our driveway to deliver bread when he knew the kids were home from college. And being our local snow-plower out in our remote area--that showed how much he cared about our neighborhood. Jim was the backbone of our yearly neighborhood picnics--hauling tables and chairs to the host's house and picking them afterwards. One of our favorite memories was the whole pig he cooked in a pit for one of the picnics! The Indian Rd/ Cushman Rd families will miss him terribly. Hugs to all of his family--he was a good man.

This just breaks our hearts. Jim has always been such an incredibly wonderful neighbor and friend. So many memories of him at block parties, dropping off bread to us and others up and down the street, clearing the path down to the neighborhood beach. One really bad winter storm, Jim was out on his BULLDOZER (who owns a bulldozer?!) plowing the road and everyone's driveway. An amazing man - generous, kind and lovable. We are very sad - and sad for the huge loss this must be for his family. Much love from all the neighbors on Cushman and Indian Roads. He will be sorely missed.

On behalf of the North Olympia Fire District 7 Commissioners, Chiefs, staff and the Citizen Advisory Panel (CAP), we send our heartfelt prayers to Jim's family. We are very thoughtful about Jim's passing. He was a valued and much loved member of our fire department family and was a long time member of the CAP. Jim was always there for the Department at meetings and contributing his candles & diffusers as raffle items for our annual crab feeds along with bread from his bakery. He liked to tease us and would say "Gee, I forgot all about bringing the bread" when his truck was out in the parking lot full of loaves. He was busy cleaning out one of his Olympia homes and had asked the Department to use it as a practice burn when he was done.
We are thankful we got to know Jim as a wonderful friend and colleague and he will always be remembered by the North Olympia Fire Department 7.

My friend, my square dancing partner ages ago. Always kind, courteous, polite - a true gentleman. I remember even then he loved to laugh and make everyone smile. I'm so happy and blessed to have known him and look forward to seeing him again in that eternal realm above.
