Obituary of Dorothy Norma Varner

Dorothy Norma Varner, 93, of Van Nuys, California passed away July 13, 2014 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Panorama City, California. Dorothy was born September 27, 1920 in Minnesota to Frank and Hattie (Vasak) Butler. Dorothy grew up in Meadow Lands, Minnesota where she attended and graduated from Meadow Lands High School in 1938. She later moved to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho with her family in her early 20’s. She met Russell Varner in Chicago while roller skating, in 1945 and they were later married on July 9, 1948. Together they moved to California in 1953 where they raised their family. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, baking bread, and reading. She is survived by her husband Russell of the family home in Van Nuys, California, and one daughter Nancy Koch of Van Nuys, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Betty, and Margie. A Graveside service will be held Saturday July 19, 2014 at 2:30 P.M. at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
