Obituary of William Askren Calligan

Bill went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2015. He was born in Puyallup, Washington on October 13, 1924. He graduated from Puyallup High School in 1942. After a brief employment at the Tacoma Shipyards, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific Theater until the end of World War II.
After his separation from the service, he began his career as a mechanic which spanned 40 years. He rose in the ranks and retired as equipment superintendent from Potelco Inc. in November of 1986.
Bill married Jo Anne Timm on September 11, 1948. They had three children and lived in Puyallup, WA. their entire married life.
In 2000, Bill moved to the Spokane area. He busied himself until 2010 working for his grandson, Bill, in his diesel repair business.
He will be known for his friendliness in the community and his caring for his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his three children, William, Patricia, and Carly Calligan ; eight grandchildren; Patrick Calligan, Bill Calligan, Sara Thomas, Karrianne Stenberg, Kelli Rassmussen, Andrew Weatherman, Cody Mauro, and Jordan Mauro, and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Chester Community Church, 11703 East Dishman-Mica Road, Spokane Valley, WA. 99206, at 1pm Monday, March 23rd. An internment service will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetary, 21702 West Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA.,
