Sharon McMullin was my first gymnastics coach at Chief Moses Jr High in Moses Lake. She nurtured my love of gymnastics and took a personal interest in my success. I went on to compete on the gymnastics team at MLHS and though my years at Eastern Washington University, and now remember that she pushed me to go to Cheney. I loved my experience there and met my husband. Now I've retired after 41 years of teaching math and math teachers in Shelton, Washington. My thanks to her encouragement.

Sharon and I met at Eastern. We decided to go to Europe together and work for the military in the middle of the trip. We had rooms at the Heidelberg BOQ. We traveled well together and visited many of the countries in Europe. We bought a VW van, and mostly slept in it while traveling. I was jealous because she was shorter than I and her feet stayed on the bed and did not hang over and get cold. She made me laugh when watching for street signs. I would tell her the street to watch for, and many times I would hear “oops” or some other expression because we had just passed it. We even took some German classes together, though we never got very good at German. We lost touch, and I was shocked to find she had left us. Her Dad passed away while we were in Heidelberg, and she flew home. When she returned, she brought each of us one of his shirts to wear during the rest of the trip. I was touched, and I still have mine today. She was a true friend.

I knew Sharon as a 10-13 year old living on the same block in Moses Lake, Wa.
We became close friends and enjoyed the usual outdoor activities of kids of that age plus going to events, dances at her church just down the street one block away.
I remember her as very athletic and energetic and someone that, even back then, could beat me very quickly in an informal wrestling match which sometimes was part of our kids play. She was strong.
We moved from Moses Lake in the mid 50s but I did return to the area to graduate
from Chief Moses High School with her in 1960 (the obit is incorrect) but the friendship was much more casual by then.
My condolences to friends and family. Sharon was special.

Unfortunately, I only knew Sharon a few years...in our water fitness class. I always enjoyed our chats and I knew she was in pain often. I was sad to see the obituary in the paper this week. Rest in peace, Sharon.

We first met Sharon more than 2 years ago at the Northern Quest Casino poker room. She was part of our Tuesday night poker group. She came to some of our home games. Thank you for the opportunity to be our friend. We are sure we will meet agaIn ! In the meantime, maybe you can whisper to us what our opponents' hands are when we play poker. Just be discreet :)
