There are people you meet in this life who, though may only meet them once, as I did with Bud, remain as a powerful force in your life. We spent a month together in 1975 on "The Last Cattle Drive" in Arizona, and Bud was for me, the absolute embodiment of all those traits we imbue to the western, cowboy way. He not only looked the part, he WAS the part. And though our time on the cattle drive was brief, a mere month passed in hot days and under starry nighttime skies, I have thought of him often in the intervening years, and feel only remorse that I never got around to doing a trip in Idaho.
