James William Payne (Jim), 66, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho passed away December 20, 2015 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. James was born October 14, 1949 in Spokane, WA to Norman and Imogene (White) Payne.
As a young child Jim moved with his family to Coeur d' Alene, there he attended Sherman Elementary, and Coeur d' Alene Jr. and Sr. High School graduating in 1967.
After high school Jim met Laura Glaspie and they were married June 7, 1969 in Post Falls, Idaho. He moved back to Kellogg for a short time and worked for the Bunker Hill Mining Company. Eventually he moved to Coeur d' Alene where he worked as a mechanic for various shops in the area.
Jim enjoyed golfing, and was an avid bowler, bowling every chance he got. He played men’s league softball in Cda and at Quad Park for many years. His greatest passion was fast cars-he raced slot cars as a young teen, then graduating on to race stock cars at Stateline Speedway with the Orange Crush Racing Team. In later years he became a dedicated NASCAR fan.
Jim was a member of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as a youth, and a member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles.
He is survived by two daughters Dana (Chad) Vanbrunt of Post Falls, Idaho, and Stacy (Joe Haines) Payne of Reardan, Washington; four grandchildren Katie, Chelsea, Leila, and Jamie; four great-grandchildren; his Mother Imogene Sverdsten of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, one brother Steven Payne of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; two sisters Cheryl Snyder of Hayden, Idaho and Deborah McPeak of Rathdrum, Idaho; and many other extended family members.
