Obituary of Terry Wesley Hartman

Terry Wesley Hartman was born in Altus, Oklahoma, on April 3, 1945. He graduated from Valley High School (Albuquerque, New Mexico) in 1963 and then joined the Navy. He completed UDT/SEALs training in 1965 at Little Creek in Norfolk, Virginia (Class 33). After proudly serving his country with honor, Terry went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Jose State University. In 1974, he began working with the California Youth Authority in Stockton, California; first as a youth counselor at Karl Holton School and later as a Lieutenant of security at O.H. Close School. After 28 years of service to the state of California he retired and moved to Post Falls, Idaho where he could be found swimming the rivers, hiking the hills and cycling the Centennial Trail. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia, his sons, Todd and Ty, his three grandchildren, Esme, Alasdair, and Lawrence, and his brother Johnny Carroll. Terry died after a long battle with cancer on August 8, 2016. He was 71.
