Obituary of Ruth Ann Smith

Ruth Ann Smith, 66, of Spirit Lake, Idaho passed away October 9, 2016 at Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital in Post Falls, Idaho. Ruth was born September 27, 1950 in Crescent City, California to George and Rose McGinnis. Ruth spent her childhood in California where she attended high school. She later moved to North Idaho where she met Leonard Smith in Hayden, at the Triple “R” Ranch in 1966 and they were married October 16, 1968 in Post Falls, Idaho. Together they moved to Pinehurst, then Rathdrum and eventually Spirit Lake where they raised their family. Ruth had worked as a cook, the lumber mill in Post Falls with Leonard, Unitech making airplane parts, and finally as a caregiver. She was a member of New Life Missions in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Ruth loved flowers and gardening, as well as music and singing country songs and old Christian hymns. She is survived by her loving husband Leonard of the family home in Spirit Lake, Idaho; three daughters Lisa Kellerman of Spokane, Washington, Lora Garlinghouse of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Jenny Smith of Hayden, Idaho; two brothers Frank McGinnis of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Tom McGinnis of Oldtown, Idaho; six grandchildren Jocelyn, Nicole, Justin, Dalton, Devon, and Amelie; and three Great-grandchildren Lily, Marshall, and Weston. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mary, and one brother Donald McGinnis. A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held Saturday October 22, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at New Life Missions Church in Spirit Lake, Idaho.
