Obituary of Delores Jean Anaya

Delores Jean Anaya, born December 6, 1927, died December 27, 2016. Delores was born in Benge, WA on December 6, 1927 to Milton (Bill) and Maysel Myers. The family eventually moved to Washtucna, WA, where Delores graduated from Wastucna High School in 1945. After high school, she married James Jessie Daugherty. They had one son, James Darwin Daugherty. She made her home there, on the family ranch as a housekeeper and mother. She divorced and moved to Spokane in the summer of 1965 with her son. She worked as a waitress at Burn's Diner and eventually went to work for the Reclothery as a sales clerk. She met and married her second husband, Steven Michael Anaya, in 1971. While she made her home in Spokane, she also made many friends. She always had a smile and a story for people. She was an avid Washington State Cougar and Seattle Seahawks fan. She went to many games with her husband, Steve, and rooted her team on. Delores has been in declining health for several years and had been in the care of her son and his wife. Delores is survived by her husband, Steve, her son, Jim and his wife, Sheila, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandson. She is also survived by brothers, Milton and Duane Myers and several nieces and nephews. Delores requested no funeral services be held. A Celebration of Life memorial service is being planned for April 29, 2017 at the Steelworkers Union Hall, 14015 E. Trent Ave. 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
