Mrs Schmehl was a wonderful teacher and friend. I have the best memories of her and my 1st and 2nd grade. She was the truest description of what a teacher at that level should be. She will be missed and I send heart felt prayers to her family. She was an angel to many youngsters over the years and you don't find many like her.
Michele Parson.

So sorry for your loss. Mrs, Schmehl was my daughters teacher and she was the greatest. She was like a grandma and was good with all the kids. Proud to have had her is our lives. They don't make teachers with her caring she had for all the kids. She will be missed by many but not forgotten.

My deepest condolences to all of the family. Mrs. Schmehl was one of my favorite teachers. I have many fond memories of her, even after I left her kindergarten class. I ran into her many times in my adult life and she was still the sweetest and most kind heart. I will never forget the rice box from her classroom and even made one for my own children. She truly touched so many lives and shaped many great people.

I was so sorry to hear about Betty's passing. She was my first grade teacher. I remember being scared that first day of school, and her smiling face made that day so much better. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I would like to offer my condolences to the Schmehl family. 89 years is quite an accomplishment according to the Bible (Psalm 90:10) and I know Betty has left you with many precious memories and will be greatly missed. Hopefully this scripture will give you comfort because Jehovah God (Psalm 83:18) is promising us he will do away with man's worst enemy, death. This is found for us at Rev. 21: 4; "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." For more comforting scriptures please visit: http://bit.ly/1K38EFt. It has given me hope, strengthened my faith and helped me find the answer to Why? I know it will do the same for you. God's kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matthew 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises including the resurrection. John 6: 40 tells us: "For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day." Also, Titus 1: 2 tells us this promise of a resurrection: "is based on a hope of the everlasting life that God, who cannot lie, promised long ago. Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will live......And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever. For Jehovah himself has spoken it."
This is a wonderful promise made to us by our heavenly father and I pray it brings you comfort and hope. Jehovah invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. Again, I offer my sincere condolences to the family. On behalf of the Lt. George Farragut Chapter, NSDAR and myself I would like to extend our condolences to the family of Betty. Betty became a member of our local chapter on December 12th, 2009, after proving her lineage to a patriot of the Revolutionary War. She will be missed at our meetings and events. We are so grateful that she was a member for several years and we were able to call her a daughter of the chapter.
