Obituary of Odell Stancel Whitaker
Please share a memory of Odell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Odell Stancel Whitaker (91) of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family and love of his life of 64 years, Louise. He was born July 2, 1925 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Harvey T. and Ollie Mae (Black) Whitaker.
Odell was a World War II veteran (combat wounded) who received the high honor of a Purple Heart. He was part of the Austrian Campaign from 1942-1947. He was a “real man” who stood up and fought for what he believed and was another person who made our country great. His integrity was important and he did all he could to instill it in his marriage, children, friendships and work environment.
Odell loved his family dearly and spent as much time as he could with them boating, camping, coaching and playing games. He understood at a young age that family and relationships were the things that last forever and to make sure that each relationship was nurtured in that way. He was very respected. His loyalty carried over into his job, working for the Bunker Hill Company from 1949 to 1983.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, and his 5 children: Dennis (Patty) Whitaker, Stancel (Deb) Whitaker, Jerri (Tim) Park, Debby (Jake) Bekel and Corky (Kelly) Whitaker. He also has 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Odell, you are a great man and loved by so many. You will be missed but we promise you that we will always make you proud and your counsel will always be in our hearts. We Love You Dad!
