Obituary of Ben Lewis Sims

Ben Sims of Post Falls, Idaho passed away May 31, 2017.  Ben was born in Glenns Ferry, Idaho May 6, 1933 to Jesse and Mabel Sims.  Ben came from a large family, he was second oldest of 11 children; Joy, Jack, Betty, Ron, Jerry, Bill, Marilyn, Sam, Mike, and Patrick.  He spent his early childhood in Southern Idaho.  His family moved to California where he spent his teenage and adult years.

After high school Ben went into the Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He married his wife Louise in September of 1954.  Ben and Louise had 3 children: Leta, Daniel, and Diane. Ben worked many years for Procter & Gamble in Sacramento, California.  He moved his family to North Idaho in 1972.

Ben worked in the logging industry for many years, worked hard all his life, and enjoyed many years of gardening, hunting and fishing with family and friends.  Ben will be remembered for his strong work ethic, integrity and humor.  Ben was known to give a helping hand to anyone, and was loved and appreciated by all who knew him.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Ben was preceded in death by daughter Diane, son Daniel, his parents, sister Joy, brothers Jack, Ronald, Jerry and Patrick.

Ben is survived by wife Louise, daughter Leta (Herb) Scott, daughter-in-law Karen Sims, 4 grandchildren; Melissa, Michael, Kari and Benjamin, and 3 great-grandchildren; Ashley, Adam, and Rhonyn.  Siblings; Betty, Marilyn, Bill, Sam and Mike.

A Memorial celebration of Ben’s life will be planned for a future date.
