Obituary of Gloria Francis Soule

Please share a memory of Gloria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gloria Francis Gillings was born June 4, 1923 in Sanford Maine to Lofthouse and Beatrice Gillings.

Gloria was blessed to have 4 children, David, Clifford, Mary, and Irene.

While raising her last 2 daughters she met and married the love of her life Alton Soule, and lived in Gabbs Nevada for 50 years. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She gardened, cooked, baked, crafted, and was strong in her faith. She loved the Lord. In her younger years, she was quite the dancer, she loved the jitterbug, waltz and swing dancing.

In the summer of 2003 Gloria and Al moved to Washington State to be near her daughter and grandchildren, before Al’s passing in August 2004.

The last 4 years of her life she lived in Rathdrum Idaho with her granddaughter Heidi,

grandson-in law and great grandchildren, and enjoyed regular visits from her grandson Mark, and his family. Grandma was not fond of the cold and snow. However, she loved warm summer days, reading her mystery books and Bible, watching westerns, and the wildlife of North Idaho from her back yard with her faithful friend dog Daisy on her lap.

Before Gloria’s passing she was delighted to have her daughter Mary and son-in-law retire in North Idaho to be closer to her. She loved having her children and family together, those were some of her greatest memories. In her last days her children, grandchildren and sister traveled from Montana, South Dakota, Texas, and Oklahoma to surround her with love.

Grandma Q-tip will be forever in our hearts and loved always.

Preceded in death by 3 husbands, mother, father, 3 brothers (Albert, Claude, Herb), youngest sister (Kathy), and oldest son (David).

Survived by her children, Clifford (Donna), Mary (Steve), Irene (John). Daughter in law Betty, 10 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Her sister Mary and many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to give a special thanks to the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho for making grandma feel so comfortable throughout her last days. Their staff was amazing and so friendly.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Schneidmiller Hospice House 2290 W. Prairie Ave. Coeur d’Alene, ID. 83815
