Obituary of Charles Ruby

Charles completed his earthly journey on May 12, 2012, after a valiant effort to recover from complications due to heart surgery. He was born in Spokane on September 16, 1943, to Earl and Marjorie (Littell) Ruby. He attended Audubon Elementary, Havermale Jr. High, graduated in 1961 from North Central H.S., and then attended EWU. He married Margaret Seidel in 1965 and they had two daughters. He was a lifelong resident of Spokane. Charles was a hard worker and spent 18 years with Spokane Culvert Company as production supervisor, outside salesman, and plant manager. His passion for cars led him to open C.A.R. Co. in 1992 selling used vehicles. He was a member of Northwest Independent Auto Dealers Assn., Spokane Corvette Club (past president), Covenant United Methodist Church, the NRA, and served in the Army National Guards. Chuck was an avid hunter of turkey, bear, deer and elk. From the time he was a little boy he loved to fish, especially on Deep Creek at the Northport cabin. After retiring, he and Marge were able to spend several winters in Arizona. Charles is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret, and their two daughters and sons-in-law: Stephanie and David Cain of Omaha, and Miranda and Todd Brothers of Battle Ground, WA. He was proud Papa to five grandchildren: Joshua (USAF), Alycia and Emily Cain; Lucas and Benjamin Brothers. He has two sisters, Kathleen LaBarge and Franki-jean Ruby, many nieces and nephews, and his best friend and hunting partner, Don Vannurden. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday,May 29, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N Glenden Dr, Spokane WA.
