Obituary of Larry Gene Jameson

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Larry G. Jameson passed away February 28, 2018 at the age of 71.  His wife Jo of 43 years was by his side.  Dad had been fighting a failing heart for many years.  He fought valiantly, with the courage of a lion and without complaint.  This was in true fashion as to the kind of man he was; strong, courageous and humble.  He made his was into this life on Oct. 23, 1946 to Chesney and Lois Jameson.  He would become a loving husband, father and cherished friend.  Dad graduated from Louis and Clark High School in 1964 in Spokane, WA and went on to faithfully serve his country in the Navy of 4 years.  There he met Jim Smith who would become a lifelong friend and fishing buddy along with his wife Pat.  During that time, he had a son Tony, Whom dad loved more than life.  They were a couple of boys who would soon walk into our life and change it forever.  Larry and Jo met at work and when she brought his home to meet her girls; it was love at first sight, long hair, mustache and all!  October 5, 1975, we became a family.  His glasses must’ve been extra rosy that day as he took on a teenager daughter, a pre-teen daughter and an Italian wife!!!  He quickly became the cement that strongly held our family together.  He was the master teacher and example in so many things.  He ran his own TV repair business while working full time, was impeccable at keeping records, and loved play time. Among his hobbies were fishing, camping, playing darts and chess, and often times siting back smiling as he watched his family interact.  He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was ALWAYS worth the listen. Jim mentioned their fishing trips were rather quiet except on the occasion dad would ask for a sandwich or something to drink.  It was perfect as spending time together was all their friendship needed.  On a family camping trip, we all laughed at dad bringing a battery operated bug zapper.  He found joy at showing the wasps who was boss!  Quite hilarious for an otherwise quiet guy!!! Camping trips often involved Ted and Diane Knutson and their children, adding to the fun and excitement to be had.  Ted became another one of dads good fishing buddies with more fish to be caught and stories to tell.  Another love in life was Chocolate and he kept quite the stash.  Since he had blood sugar problems, he became well versed as to where to hide it so mom wouldn’t know, UNTIL, mom would rearrange the furniture and find remnants.  Dad just got better at hiding his chocolate.  One of the most tender and personal things dad always did as one of us would be ending a phone call with him, is blow and audible kiss, that was returned by whoever he was talking to,  a clear reminder you were special.  There isn’t a person who knew dad and didn’t feel loved and important.  He also loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and planted his testimony in the lives of his family.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended as often as he could, health permitting.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, his son and a great-grandson.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Jo, daughters Lisa (Brian) Hardesty and Carolynne Critchlow, grandchildren Nichole, Mark, Michael, John, Kaleigh and Addisen and 7 grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Bruce (Sharon) Jameson, sister Jeanne Edwards and sister Sandy Newgard along with many cherished friends. Until we meet again, dad, we love you, send along our kisses and hope you enjoy some chocolate…
