Obituary of Joshua Laughlin Brandt

Please share a memory of Joshua to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On April 10th, 2018 we lost our beloved son Joshua Laughlin Brandt. Joshua was born April 29, 1999 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho to Shane Brandt and Harvest Klinge.

Joshua was an amazing wonderful young man that can never be replaced. All throughout his life Joshua brought happiness and laughter to all that knew him. His big blue eyes and smile were always sure to get him whatever he wanted, and he used his charm well. He was an extraordinary athlete. At the age of six his uncle was tossing a football back and forth to Joshua and his brothers when he asked Joshua to throw it. The amazed look on our faces when Joshua threw the football like a pro I will never forget. In that moment we knew he was a natural born football player.

At a very young age Joshua was involved in the Lakeland flag football and Lakeland wrestling club. No matter what sport or athletic activity Joshua was in, he shined at. As time passed it was clear that what we saw when Joshua was six still showed to be true. Joshua was a natural born football player. He loved that game. He loved his teammates and his football coaches. He was a star in Flag football, Jr. tackle, Arena football and the Lakeland High school football. He received awards in football for Hitter of the Year for 2015 and 2016 and Offensive MVP for 2017. He was also voted All League MVP for Football 2017. He was a nominee for the 2017 Hall of Fame.

Joshua had a huge heart and cared about everyone, especially those he felt needed support or protection. I would often ask Joshua “What happened to the new shoes I bought you, or clothes, or Football cleats?” And he would simply reply “A friend needed them more than I did” Then he’d smile his charming smile.

Joshua also had a sense of style. Everything had to match and look good. He often carried around a sportspack with a brush, deodorant, nail clippers ect. and of course, cologne. We would often tease Joshua that it was his purse. To which he would simply state, I like to look and smell good.

Joshua was also active. He enjoyed not only Football, but camping with his family, four-wheel riding, bow hunting, skeet shooting, snowboarding and playing basketball with Sean.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear”

We love you very very much Jada and we miss you.

Joshua is survived by his father Shane (Tracy) Brandt of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, his mother Harvest (Bart) Klinge of Rathdrum, Idaho; his sister Cassandra (Corey) Hansel of Rathdrum, Idaho; brothers Tyler Brandt of Hayden, Idaho and Christian Brandt of Rathdrum, Idaho; grandmother Dee Daly of North Carolina; his uncles Eli (Stephanie) Gumm of North Carolina, Shawn Brandt of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and Shannon (Stephanie) Brandt of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; his step-brothers Justin (Ashley) Aurora of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Cody Aurora of Spokane, Wa and Levi (Jordan) Hewitt of England; his step-sisters Brittanee and Brooke Klinge of Rathdrum, Idaho; step-grandmother Nancy Parker and Glenda Taylor of Post Falls, Idaho.
