I heard a song on the radio that I have heard only a couple times. Once when Dad was sick, and again after he passed. It reminds me of something he would write and therefore, reminds me of him. Here are the lyrics:
Called Fade in/Fade out.
Just the other day I looked at my father
It was the first time I saw he'd grown old
Canyons through his skin and the rivers that made them
Carved the stories I was told
He said
"I have watched you fade in
You will watch me fade out
I have watched you fade in
You will watch me fade out
When the grip leaves my hand
I know you won't let me down
Go and find your way
Leave me in your wake
Always push through the pain
And don't run away from change
Never settle
Make your mark
Hold your head up
Follow your heart
Follow your heart
Just the other day I stared at the ocean
With every new wave another must go
One day you'll remember us laughing
One day you'll remember my passion
One day you'll have one of your own
We all get lost sometimes trying to find what we're looking for
Never settle
Make your mark
Hold your head up
Follow your heart
When the morning comes and takes me
I promise I have taught you everything that you need
In the night you'll dream of so many things
But find the ones that bring you life, and you'll find me
That's where you'll find me"

Dad I remember all you have given me. From the day I was born until the day you left us I will cherish all you have been to me,taught me,given to me for me to hold onto for the rest of my days. I cherish the fishing time we had, the hunting, snowmobiling, hiking, swimming, and yes even when we worked at LP together and ate lunches together with mom. I cherish the advice you gave to me throughout my life from things like love,God,country, and kids. I cherish the fact you enjoyed my life and family as much as I have and loved them as much as I do.
Growing up I sometimes struggled you were always there for me silently nurturing and nudging me on the right path. Words cannot express the loss I feel in a world without you here with us. An ache that has no ending. You were my protector,my teacher,my guide,my rock and anchor in all that has made me who I am and have become. You gave so much more to us then I ever knew or realized until the day we lost you and it makes the loss so much harsher. Even now you are still molding me and teaching me how to be a better man. Such is true love from a great man as you were and still are. You are and always will be my dad and for so many other people you have done so much good for throughout your brief time here with us we will always be grateful for the man you are and were to so many. I love you dad and I will always cherish the times we had and the memories you left behind.
