I'll never forget the time Terri who I started calling her "Blue Eyes" way back in early 60s..one time in particular was when our family gave me a surprise send off to Vietnam in October 1968.."Tommy I'll be praying for your safe return everyday".
Rest in Peace my Blue Eyes.

Terri and I loved the month of April! Besides celebrating my birthday by decorating my room and bringing me coffee, Terri and I loved team teaching poetry all month! My favorite project was the 12 poem dodecahedron . I'll never forget how Terri, after hanging the first project from the top step of the ladder, began hopping from desk to desk hanging the big balls as I pushed more desks around the room under the hooks we had hung up As a final tribute, here is my BIOPOEM for the best teaching partner ever!
TERRI
Funny, Feisty, Caring, Courageous
A friend to everyone she met
Lover of weekly at projects, the Green Bay Packers, and her "boys"
Who feels competitive on the ugly sweater contest, happy at home planting spring flowers, and at peace on her summer camping trips
Who needs daily coffee, her Dobermans sitting near her, and a Subaru to drive snowy roads to Twin Lakes Elementary
Who gives faithful forever friendship, tons of time and support, and encouraging texts and emails
Who fears the end of a good book, the student who won't try, and classroom chaos
Who dreams of retirement trips, grandkids someday, and winning her BIG fight
Who now resides in heaven with my sweet John, chatting and drinking lattes
SHOVALD,
Thanks for the memories. I'll love you forever!

Terri was a very kind and generous friend. She always had a compliment to hand out and chocolate to share at meetings. Terri was a good listener and gave great advice. She herself was a very private person so when she did confide in me about her health issues I felt very blessed that she trusted me. She never lost hope as she fought her final battle.
Terri was always in for a good time! She participated in all the school/teacher activities, our dress-up/spirit days and even attended all the after school activities/events. She was the life of the party!
Terri was tiny but she was mighty! She always stood up for what she believed in and stood her ground either with a student, parent, or fellow teacher (fighting over socks at a Christmas party).
Terri was the kind of friend you wanted in your life. She reached out on holidays and other special occasions just to check in. Terri had a positive outlook on life. She never said a negative thing about anybody or anything. She was great to be around..for lunch, farmer’s market and craft fairs. Being around Terri was very uplifting.
I will forever hold her beautiful smile (with the cute dimples) and sweet laugh in my heart. I will truly miss Terri and I pray she is finally at rest, pain free.
Forever and always my friend,
Love, Julie Kinzer

Terri, my cousin, had a beautiful smile and dimples. She was a special lady who enjoyed life. Terri had many talents including cooking and gardening. She had a great disposition and was loved by those who knew her. Life ended too soon for Terri. She suffered with severe pain and fought her battle with cancer ‘til the end. Terri is now in the arms of our loving Lord and suffers no more.
Bob, John, Ben, Karen, & all other family and friends have many wonderful memories of Terri, which will bring you comfort and peace in your loss. We will miss Terri.
May God bless you,
Nancy Kunz

Q: What will you miss most about Terri?
A: Terri entered my life in 2012, becoming my teaching partner in 4th grade at Twin Lakes Elementary. Our friendship continued after we both retired, strong and faithful until her death. I will miss Terri's love and caring support through my own loss, her prayers and support always constant. I will miss meeting for coffee, for lunches, for tea. I will miss her texts, even across the miles, always staying in touch. I will miss sharing new authors and book titles. I will miss her spunk, her feistiness, her determination, her courage, strong to the end. I will miss Terri a ton!!!

Terri was a very special person. She and I shared the same Birthday "October 23th", although she was a year younger. we graduated the same year "1978". I'm not sure when we started sending each other cards and staying in touch. We were friends in high school and then went our separate ways as we were busy with families, lives and working. I think our shared values and morals were something we found in common. In this day and age finding and keeping good people in our lives is rare and important. I will truly miss that connection we had.
The picture attached was from our last time together walking and sharing stories on the Apple Blossom trail.

I met Terri at the University of Idaho when we were in classes together for our teaching degrees. She was my study buddy and inspiration. She was always encouraging and working to be the best teacher she could be for the students she would teach. The teaching field has lost a bright, shining star.

Q: How did you meet Terri?
A: Terri was my kindergarten teacher. She was such a fun lady and had such a great influence on so many people. Mrs. Shovald was the person who taught me how to read. I am so glad that her path crossed mine, even though it was brief. I will always remember my very first teacher.
