Dottie Rogers, Coeur d'Alene, ID, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2013 at the conclusion of a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born September 1, 1928 in Tekoa, Washington to Archie and Sylvia Atkinson, Dottie grew up in the Palouse region of Eastern Washington and North Idaho. She graduated from Plummer High School in 1946. She met her husband, Donald E. (Don) Rogers in Lewiston, Idaho while attending beauty school. The couple was married in Lewiston, June 29, 1947. Dottie and Don spent most of their married life in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. For many years, Dottie was an active member of Coeur d'Alene Bible Church. Her love of writing cards and letters helped the church in its ministry to the congregation when members suffered from illnesses or loss. Dottie enjoyed hand crafting the cards she sent out to the congregation, friends and extended family. Dottie was principally a homemaker while her children were in school. She was well-appreciated by friends and family for wonderful chocolate chip cookies, apple dumplings and chocolate cherry cakes. Dottie is survived by her three sons, Thomas S. Rogers, Sitka, Alaska; Brett A. Rogers, Spokane, Washington; and Patrick J. Rogers, Hayden, Idaho; as well as by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dottie was predeceased by her husband Don who passed in June, 2002 and by her sister Carol Smith-Whitman in 2005 and her brother William Atkinson in 1996. A memorial service to celebrate Dottie's life will be held at the Bell Tower Chapel 3398 E. Jenalan Avenue, Post Falls, Idaho on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dottie's name to the Coeur d'Alene Homes, 624 W. Harrison, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814
