Obituary of Rodney Dale Christianson

Please share a memory of Rodney to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rodney “Rod” Dale Christianson, son of Marcus and Hazel Christianson, born June 1939 in Minneapolis Minnesota, left us for his place in Heaven on March 8, 2019. He leaves behind his immediate family, Dorine, his wife of 50 plus years, oldest son Michael, youngest son Mark and daughter Michelle whom he loved with all his heart and soul. Nothing gave Dad more pride or more happiness than his family, whom he cherished more than life itself.

Our father, our friend and a great man has passed away and the sorrow has been indescribable though we can take solace that God took his pain away and took him to a better place. Rod was a great man not because he cured cancer or created a lifesaving vaccine but because he saw the best in everyone and loved ALL his family and friends with every ounce of his being…

Dad was a pillar of our family and a man that everyone loved and respected and with whom he felt the same...  We have been deeply blessed to have him in our lives. He did whatever he had to do to provide for his family and he taught my brother and I how to be upstanding men and how to raise their sons to be the same. He taught his daughter how to love unselfishly and how important family is. He taught us all he knew about raising a family and trying to be the best people we could be.

Even in his last days he was still teaching us with his charming wit and his ability to make people laugh. Dad had a way to put you at ease in difficult moments;  His message has always been clear; “Don’t hate, always love, look for the best, forget the worst, always keep the people whom you love close to your heart and never care that life, like people, are never perfect. Relish in the moments when all you do is sit around with family and friends and tell stories that make everyone laugh no matter how embellished they might be...those are always the greatest moments and the best kind!”

…In his last days and moments, he was surrounded by the love of his life, his children, his grandchildren, family and friends…just the way he liked it…

We will love and miss you every day of the rest of our lives Dad, Grandpa and Friend...

"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted."

Matthew 5:4

** Because two of Rod’s Grandchildren, Cameron & Hailey, are both conflicted with Juvenile Diabetes, the family asks that in leu of flowers or cards, you please click the link and make a small donation in his name to Cameron’s Non-Profit; Cameron's Cure for Juvenile Diabetes (link) so that maybe one day Rod’s wish would come true that they be freed from the disease…

God Bless!
